Planet Wobble is an exciting and innovative series of materials for early readers.
These animated Clicker talking books and related on-screen activities offer rich and engaging resources for early reading and writing skills.
They also come with full-color printed books to enable you to use the materials away from the computer, too. Planet Wobble is winner of a BETT education award.
Planet Wobble is quite like Earth, but everything is a little different, meaning that children from any background can relate to the stories, which follow the adventures of Stan, Josh, Amber, Holly, Ella and Dan, who engage in the kind of activities enjoyed by children everywhere.
Alongside the on-screen books, activities are also provided, which are based on specific literacy objectives. These activities are differentiated, enabling children of all abilities to use them. They offer practice and reinforcement and are suitable for both group and individual work. As you’d expect from a product powered by Clicker, it is completely switch accessible.
Planet Wobble has been piloted very successfully in schools. Researched and designed by our curriculum team, you will find Planet Wobble a wonderful resource for your classroom.
Wobble activities
The activities provided with Planet Wobble include:
- Matching - encouraging children to look for patterns, from simple picture and word matching to listen-and-find activities
- Sentences - helping to reinforce the features of sentence construction
- Words - reinforcing the recognition of high-frequency words as well as their spelling
- Questions - these encourage children to understand and respond to questions based on the characters in the books
- Writing stories - pre-prepared Clicker Grids for children to compose their own stories based on the theme of the book
- Make your own books - the book is set up without text, so you can write stories with your children
What's included in the Site-license pack: Two CD-ROMs that you can install on any computer on your site, plus 2 copies of each of the 6 books ( a total of 12 books)
At Level 3, each book has 16 pages and all the Wobble children appear in each story. There is a strong but simple narrative, with continued use of repetition in sentence structure.
