This award-winning program is a comprehensive process writing tool that helps students effectively write for 13 different writing purposes. Students develop the ability to identify their audience, select an appropriate communication vehicle, then structure, test and refine their research and ideas. Students can concentrate on the content of their work and the power of their own ideas.
Using interactive models, writers are taken through carefully constructed stages. They are first required to identify if they are writing for imaginative, personal or functional reasons. They go to the NoteTaker section and begin specific prewriting exercises that involve gathering information. Students learn to organize material in a logical order in StructureMaker. They compose their text in DraftMaker where built-in auditory and visual prompts help students stay on track. When student are ready to present their work they can use the complete word processor that includes a spell checker and the ability to import graphic material. Specialized printing formats let students create realistic-looking products.
Author's Toolkit includes a text-to-speech option where students can hear words, sentences or their entire document. Students can use this feature as an editing tool or to present their work in spoken form. Students can select from over 30 voices to narrate their work.
