In Get Up and Go students interpret and construct timelines through three descriptive activities in this animated program based a title in Stuart J. Murphy's MathStart book series. Students are introduced to timelines as they participate in an interactive story where they chart the morning activities of a late-rising student.
In the second activity, students answer interpretive questions about three increasingly complex situations. Students use simple addition and subtraction skills to chart intervals of time based on the events in an hour, morning, and day. An easy-to-use visual tool helps them carry minutes over to the next hour and learn time concepts. To ensure students' learning this section provides students with a short, humorous visual reward to correctly answered questions. If a question is not answered correctly on the student's third try, a positive visual demonstration shows a way to arrive at the correct conclusion. Teacher management controls allow you to closely follow students' progress in this section.
When students are ready to create their own timelines they can move on to the third activity. With clear audio instruction and demonstrations, students can select time interval features for their timeline and use colorful labels to identify parts of the timeline. A sticker library provides students with curriculum-related art to decorate and personalize their timelines. Students can import their own artwork, and the timelines can be printed or saved!
