In Make-A-Map 3D students learn cardinal directions, map symbols, map keys, and indexes, and build maps of their immediate surroundings by dragging and dropping roads, commercial and residential buildings, adding landmarks, landforms, and traffic signs. The unique 3D interface converts students' flat representation into virtual 3D landscapes. Students can drive through their creations improving geography and navigating skills. An easy-to-use Traffic Safety Information Section, with six learning games, teaches the Rules of Road.
By providing a first-person perspective, this program helps students internalize important geography concepts. Ten activity lessons led by two animated hosts - Madison, The Map Man, and his computer sidekick PC - ensure that your students are exposed to all geography learning benchmarks. The three levels of lessons take students from the preliminary Test Your Maptitude assessment to a concluding event called the Ultimate Road Challenge where every mapping skill is called into play to solve a crime.
A Distance Mapping Section puts your hometown on the map and provides students with opportunities to expand these new skills to areas beyond their city or neighborhood. Activities using grid coordinates on the U.S. map give students a chance to locate and learn about important national landmarks.
