Need a diagram, process chart, quick page-layout, website mockup or graphic design? OmniGraffle 5 handles all of these in one award-winning application. We're not just a pretty interface, however. There's plenty of power under the hood to make all your diagramming and design fast and easy, with the ability to customize and tweak every aspect of your work.

OmniGraffle Professional 5 includes a powerful toolset for advanced document creation and editing options. For the pro user who's looking for a full-featured diagramming and design tool, you've come to the right place.

Features:

SubGraphs: Use subgraphs to expand and collapse segments of your diagram just like you can expand and collapse rows in outline view. Make a single diagram as simplified or as complex as you need.

Shared Layers: Share the love between your canvases with shared layers. When you have common elements that you'd like to display on different canvases, shared layers make it easy to keep them updated. Change any object on a shared layer (a logo, a background, a wireframe) and the change instantly shows up on every canvas that shares the layer.

Greated Visio Support: Now it's even easier to work with PC using colleagues (until they see the light and switch to a Mac, that is). You can now open Microsoft Visio (VSD) files directly in OmniGraffle, along with Visio stencils (VSS) and Visio templates (VST).

Custom Data: A new addition to the notes inspector, you can use the custom data table to keep your own information about objects on the canvas. This data can be used for scripts or just for your own reference.

Notes: Notes are a handy way to store arbitrary information about objects in a diagram. An object with a note displays the note in a tag when you rest the pointer over it for a moment; click the note inspector to view and edit the note. You can use rich text in notes, so they can be styled and include links to websites. Notes can be imported from or exported to OmniOutliner, and they also show up in presentation mode.

Tables: Now you can convert any shape into a table. Add rows and columns just by dragging handles or using keyboard shortcuts; select individual cells by clicking your table once, then clicking the cell. For the technically inclined: tables have made it much easier to graphically display information from your imported EOModeler, Project Builder, and Interface Builder files.

Document Scale: Use OmniGraffle Professional's ruler with automatic dimensioning when you're drawing something to scale, scale being the relationship between the size of the page and the size of the objects being drawn. You can set up a scale such as "1 in = 2 ft" or "100 px = 1 km" and OmniGraffle takes care of the rest — no need to do the math yourself.

Shape Combinations: This powerful feature allows you to combine two shapes into one (union), use one shape to cut holes in another shape (subtract), or create an entirely new shape from the area where two shapes overlap (intersect). This is the perfect tool when you're working on creating your latest jigsaw puzzle masterpiece!

SVG Export: OmniGraffle Professional supports exporting to the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format which can display OmniGraffle documents beautifully at any size, whether you're viewing them on the screen of a mobile phone or on a large print banner.

Multipe Editing Windows: When you need to edit different sections of your OmniGraffle file, like a different canvas in your document or a specific area in your canvas, you can open a separate window to do your work. You can have multiple editing windows on any one document, so you don't have to switch from canvas to canvas or zoom in and out to get your work done. Open as many windows as you want in order to help you work on different tasks while keeping an eye on the big picture.

Presentation Mode: Need to share your diagrams with an audience? With the Presentation Mode, you can show off all the great work you've created. Presentation Mode allows you to link multiple canvases together, and run a slide show that displays your documents full screen. Items on your canvases can be turned into clickable links that navigate throughout your OmniGraffle file — you can skip from canvas to canvas, forwards and backwards. Now you've got yet another powerful way to communicate your information visually using OmniGraffle.

Favorites: In the Shape toolbar there is a drop down menu that displays the various shapes and styles used in a particular document, so you can select any existing item to begin drawing with the exact same attributes. OmniGraffle Professional adds the ability to configure your "favorite" styles to be stored in the same menu, to be used over and over again. For instance, if you find yourself frequently drawing a rounded rectangle with a reddish fill and a 50% shadow, you can just add this to your favorites.

ColorSync: To ensure your professional documents will print exactly as you've designed them, OmniGraffle Professional supports Apple's ColorSync technology to provide in depth proofing. ColorSync is the industry-standard color management technology that ensures color accuracy from capture to print or online display. It delivers powerful control over color matching at every step of the workflow process - ColorSync compensates for any deviations in the image-capturing systems of scanners, the display anomalies of monitors, and the color imaging components of printers and output devices.

OmniGraffle 5 requires Mac OS X 10.5

If you need compatibility with Mac OS X 10.4, you can get an OmniGraffle 4 license by purchasing an OmniGraffle 5 license and contacting your Journey sales representative to request a corresponding OmniGraffle 4 license.

Products are usually licensed for a given number of computers or users, whichever is lower. For instance, one person with both a laptop and a desktop computer (or, say, a home machine and an office machine) can legally install and use a single license on both computers, though not at the same time. Similarly, a home computer shared by three family members needs only a single license of the software.

However, the licenses are not "floating" licenses. For instance, a business with twenty users and twenty computers needs to purchase twenty software licenses, even if no more than ten users are ever to use the software simultaneously. While the licensing software cannot enforce this restriction, this is the intent of the license, and the understanding under which the licenses are sold.

Our licensing software allows for licenses to be installed in any of three different ways:

  • Network licenses are globally available to (and shared among) any users on the network.
  • Computer licenses are available only to users on the computer or computers where the license was installed. You can install the same license on multiple computers, thus making the license available on any of them. Computer licenses take precedence over network licenses — a computer license will be claimed if available before a network license will be claimed.
  • Personal licenses are available only to users who have installed the license as a personal license for their account. You can install the same license for multiple user accounts, thus making the licenses available to any of those users. Personal licenses take precedence over computer or network licenses - a personal license will be claimed if available before a computer or network license will be claimed.

You are free to choose which of these three ways you want to install any licenses you purchase, and you can change your mind at any time.
