With a display size of 21.3” diagonal, the Cintiq 21UX is the world's largest interactive pen display to-date. Since the active area of the tablet is exactly the same as the display size, artists can use large, sweeping brush strokes, designers can visualize their work more accurately, and photographers can see more of their image even when zoomed in doing detailed edits. Not only does the Cintiq 21UX provide a large work surface, but the display's native UXGA resolution of 1600x 1200 pixels allows users to see over 46% more compared to SXGA (1280x1024) displays. With a reduced pixel pitch of only .27 mm, the image clarity is sharp and detailed, even up close. The 4:3 aspect ratio of the Cintiq 21UX is ideal for use in video editing and creating motion graphics effects because it leaves room for software controls to be accessible along the top or bottom of a wide-format video preview window.
Other major Cintiq 21UX features include the ability to freely rotate the display in either direction, to dynamically adjust the angle of the display, and to work in a color managed environment. The Cintiq 21UX is built using Wacom's most advanced tablet feature-set to provide world-class precision and control. Both the tip and eraser of the Cintiq 21UX grip pen feature 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity for precise image editing, accurate brush control, and selective application of effects and filters. This pen technology gives the Cintiq 21UX twice the pressure sensitivity of previous models and over 5 times the tablet resolution of previous models. The result is an amazingly smooth, responsive, penon-screen experience. The Cintiq 21UX now provides pen tilt and bearing sensitivity so artists can control the dynamics of their tools by simply changing the angle of their pen in relation to the Cintiq surface. This feature is fully supported in applications such as Corel® Painter™, Adobe® Photoshop®, and Macromedia® Flash®.
In addition to the desktop pen stand, a pen holder that attaches to the top of the display is also included to dock the pen directly onto the Cintiq 21UX so it's always within easy reach. The Grip Pen includes three styles of pen nibs: Standard, Stroke, and Felt. The Standard Nib provides the right balance of control and longevity for extensive every-day use. The Stroke Nib features an amazing little dual-action spring to simulate a natural brush-like feel. The Felt Nib replicates the sensation of using a felt-tip marker by creating just the right amount of surface friction.
Touch Strips
The new Touch Strips on the surface of the Cintiq 21UX allow the user to quickly scroll, zoom, or change brush settings with the touch of a finger. The Touch Strips can be easily configured to control a wide variety of `workspace attributes. Having the ability to scroll or zoom without changing the primary pen tool allows the user to position and orient the image dynamically, so their focus can remain on the tool controlled by the pen.
ExpressKeys
The new ExpressKeys are a cluster of four programmable keys designed to optimize workflow by providing quick access to commonly used modifiers, mouse clicks, keystrokes, and other timesaving operations. They are even chordable, which means that they can be used to create powerful keystroke combinations. There are two sets of ExpressKeys on the Cintiq 21UX and they are located on each side of the display surface, for a total of 8 programmable keys. The keys can be used with the non-dominant hand while the dominant hand is working with the pen on the seamless tablet surface.
